I called them on Tuesday to order a new lower bracket. A person (one of the
owner's lovely daughters) answered the phone, and took my order. The piece
arrived today, Thursday. Yippee!

The lower bracket supports the heat deflector and/or a Dutch oven (for
beans, say, or turkey stuffing). My original one, in 2 pieces that fit
together, had begun to sag and only just held on to the rim of the cooker.
The new one has the two pieces welded together - think of a tire iron. It
also forms a flatter surface, I might try cooking paella outside in the K.

Which one was the piece, the bracket or the daughter?

Oops, I hope Richard doesn't see this.

I've talked to the girls at Kamado about charcoal and don't remember better
customer service. They should give lessons. One of them told me that since I
couldn't get to the shop during the week, she'd meet me there on Sat!
Outstanding.

We were in Sacramento for a wedding a few weeks ago and made a
pilgrimage to the factory on Saturday, hoping that they'd be open. They
weren't, but the 2 guys who were working opened up the gates and let us
wander around. One of them called Laura, and she said if we could wait
15 minutes she'd come over. I couldn't make her come in on a Saturday,
but I was very impressed that she offered. She told us to take as long
as we wanted and to take some tiles home to compare colors.

I'll be ordering my birthday 7 next week, I think!

I'd order *this* week if you can. That'll get you in line sooner.

I just ordered the meat hanger for my #5 and another for my #3. From responses
that I've read, they'll be worth the cost.

I figure I'll be waiting no matter when I order, and I'm OK with that.
My birthday's the day after Thanksgiving, so I figure that I'll still
have enough time to get it and break it in before the turkey. If not,
oh well, I've been warned. I still don't mind the wait.

I haven't found the meat hanger to be very useful in my #7.

I know that I don't really need the hanger for both, so maybe it's a "More Toys"
thing.
Since they don't make a Mushikamado Grill for a #5, I had to get something.
(lol)

snork! BWAHAHAHA!

Next time you have them on the line, ask them about the $160
overcharge on my credit card. It's been over a year now, and
everything from e-mails to snail-mail letters to voice mail has been
utterly and completely ignored.

Why not just dispute the overcharge with your credit card company?

I believe you have to do so within 90 days of the purchase. Good idea,
though. I'll check.

Good luck Kevin. I bought a grandfather clock movement from a company called
Clockworks clockworks.com; professional looking website but a real swindle
operation, according to the BBB.
My credit card company - Chase Mastercard - said the same thing... that 90 days
was the limit..
