Default D-Lurkin' with a Question...

A Friend pointed this group out to me some time ago, and I've been
reading it avidly ever since...

First thing I want to say is that you guys all seem like freakin
Genius's!

So the question.. (I'm done sucking up now....)

I'm looking for a new grill...(I'll probably never be grilling for
more than 6 or 7 people at a time) Reading here and looking elsewhere
on the Net I've determined that I want a Weber Genesis Silver B with
"Cast Iron Cooking Grid" and "Exclusive Porcelain Enameled Flavorizer®
Bars" (C/O HomeDespot)..

My question is this, assuming that I have no use for a side burner,
and style isn't all that important to me .. What is the next step UP
from this unit... what will it add to my grilling experience? I would
far rather spend a little more now than find myself limited later.

Or should I just save my money for better meat, cool accessories and
beer?

I no longer own a gasser but highly recommend getting hold of a copy of the
06/04 Consumer Reports. They do an annual review of grills and are pretty
objective.

That said, I would suggest to give serious thought to a Kamado with the gas
option. It can do anything from cold smoking fish to smelting iron and your
grandkids will be cooking on it when you're gone.

P.S. - I think for less money you can get a stand alone burner unit that will do
more than a side burner. I have a dual burner gizmo that I paid ~$100 for. Very,
very handy to have around.

Tyler's right on, suggesting a Kamado, but to fair to the ceramic
competitors, you should compare the Kamado to a Big Green Egg and a Primo.

$1900 or so for a small TEC would be a fantastic alternative.

And also look at the Grill Dome. It has by far the best customer service.

Knowing Kamado's reputation for service they wouldn't have to go very far.
