I am looking for a new, wheeled, hinged-lid type charcoal barbecue, and need
some help from the experienced shoppers here to find what I want. As a point of reference, the Beefmaster from Barbecues Galore was almost perfect: http://www.bbqgalore.com/store/item.bbq?invky=5841263 At $200, it has a nice heavy cast iron cooking surface, a drawer-like tray for removing the ashes, a thermometer in the lid, four wheels, and you can raise or lower the height of the charcoal. What I don't like is that there is no means to increase or decrease the amount of air coming in. The louver vents are permanently open, so I can't regulate the temperature inside, like an oven. Also, I would like to be able to completely close off the air supply and extinguish the coals when I'm done cooking. Does anyone know of a manufactured unit that would fit my many needs? I'm retiring my Weber kettle type. I didn't like the way you get rid of the ashes, the two wheels, and the detached lid. Any suggestions? Gary Hastings |

Gary Hastings For the dirt cheap I liked this one: http://www.lowes.com/lkn?action=prod...-000001646-212 1 or http://tinyurl.com/2hstn I put the lump on one side and smoke my meat/fish on the other. For a first purchase it's not too bad. 3 years ago I got it for 89. it's now up to 119. |
