Default What's your Father's Day meal gonna be ???

The one time a year where Dad's are "King-of-the-hill", get to do
whatever we want with no excuses...Yea!!!

Anyway, of anything I can ask for dinner, told the wife I wanted to
get a nice pork butt and smoke it for pulled pork along with some hush
puppies, slaw and buns, and oh yea some beer. She mentioned she did
not want any rub on it. Never did a butt without rub, but guess it
would still turn out alright. Gonna use hickory chunks.

Okay, so what are all the 'Dad's' doing for their dinner on Sunday?

Cheers

Hmm, wife's in Alaska this weekend, no kids, and states away from my
family. Guess I could have a peanut-butter-and-jelly...

(though after seeing this thread, I'm contemplating a butt for the
next week's lunches; haven't cooked one in a while).

My wife has the same request every once in a while. I still use a little
kosher NaCl and fresh ground pepper though.

My Daddy's day din din is corned beef and cabbage. The leftovers will be
hash w/ poached eggs the next morning. Not sure if the din din or the
breakfast is better.

I'm starting the kamando lookalike out of brick this weekend. The plans
have expanded to a four foot diameter. The lid will not be hinged but
lifted by a yoke attached to a pulley system. SOB may crash and burn but it
will be h*** on wheels for at least one party.

And guys I just want to express my thanks for all the help on design ideas.

It can be great that way, of course...
I smoked my 2 slabs of spares yesterday just sprinkled with a little
garlic powder and black pepper, no salt or sugar or other spices, no
mop, no sauce, over charcoal & hickory chunks in WSM. Great flavor - if
you've ever cooked a bone-in pork rib center roast, and then eaten the
ribs themselves, that's the closest taste comparison I can think of.
Might call it "porkvegnugen", if you remember the old VW commercials
The barbecue process, when you do it like that, minimal spices, no mop
or sauce, seems to just concentrate the pork flavor - you can accentuate
that aspect of it by keeping the smoke level down, too, if you wish. I
rarely make em the same way twice....

For the purists in the family, butt, slaw, beans, and some Chef Juke's sauce
on the side.
For the risk takers, butt, guacamole, fresh tortilla's and roasted tomatillo
salsa. Maybe some turds on the side.

Plenty of Guinness and margaritas.

Enjoy your day.

I can do that every weekend. In fact, every night if I want to. My wife
has never stopped me from cooking.

I haven't thought about it. We have out of town guest coming next week and
I'm going to make a couple of special meals then. Sunday will probably be
simple, some sausages or similar.

Monday is a rib eye roast on the rotisserie, snap peas, and whatever else I
can pick up at the Farmer's market that afternoon. .

Dad likes pulled pork with vinegar slaw, so I'm going to oblige. One of the 3
butts in the Kamado will make it to his freezer, packaged in single serving
portions with a Foodsaver.

Mine turned out be a burger lunch when First-Born and the whole
Fam-Damily arrived. Sides were a German potato salad and tomatoes
and such.

Supper became steaks for SWMBOAA and her Sis.

All meats done on the K.

Is that a *generic* ceramic device? Didja grill 'em, smoke 'em or Q 'em?
