Default Black Locust ??

Hi all,

I have just split three chords of black locust from trees off my lot.
Anyone try this wood to smoke with?

I have not heard of anyone smoking with black locust, but
my guess is that it would work. A trial run will tell you
what it tastes like.

Black locust makes excellent firewood, that's for sure. It burns
hot with lots of sparks. Black locust is a very fine wood for
fenceposts, fence rails, landscape edging, arbors, etc.

IMHO, Locust tastes bad (too resinous) similar to Hemlock/spruce
Just two cents worth!

Should probably soak those in water before adding to the coals....

Id suggest barbecuing them at 350 on a gas grill wrapped in foil. Prepare by
boiling then dousing in liquid smoke.
