1. Never try to transfer hot lump from chimney starter to smoker in bare feet Heh! I actually received some criticism for recently writing: Also, depending on how many smaller chunks-o-lump you get in the chimney, I sometimes have small glowing coals fall out the bottom while pouring into the firebox. I don't use goggles (but probably should) and I sometimes use gloves, but *full shoes* (not flip-flops, sandals, socks or bare feet) are _mandatory_. So - I hope you're OK... .... 7. Don't spend a shit load of money on a smoker until you know what you're doing ( wife is ****ed now about the K) Ah, tell her it's OK. The learning curve is not that bad, and you'll be turning out fine food in the K in no time, without injury. 8. Schedule time for shower before eating dinner as I smell like a camp fire Yes, that's actually a very good point. It really improves the enjoyment of the food IMHO, and someone else recently commented the same. 10. Ya gotta love the way this chicken tastes, tomorrow is pork butt. Bingo!! Enjoy the learning curve. Dana |

There is a saying that goes something like 'buy once, cry once' The K will probably last you a life time. Just gotta learn how to use it. And many folks here will be glad to assist you. 8.
