Default Grilling on an apt balcony

Here's a subject that has been discussed several times here. I wonder if the
Food Channel, NYFD and Bobby Flay have read anything about it. Seems to me
that he's Q'ing from the rooftop or balcony of a multi family residentail
building.

bk,

This reminds me of a BBQ joke.

Irishman goes to his local Home Depot and says to the salesman "Can I buy
1,500,000 bricks please. I want to build a Barbecue"

Salesman says "1,500,000 bricks. Are you sure you need that amount for a
barbecue?"

Irishman says "Yes. I live on the 32nd floor"

LOL. In Northern North America, that would be called a Polish or hungarian
joke.
I grew up in Northern Indiana in a major industrial city amongst a mixed pot
of
ethnic groups. In redneck country that would be strictly a Yankee joke. You

have the distinction of being able to call all U.S. Americans 'Yankees', but
be
careful about applying that term to anybody from below the Mason Dixon Line.
TFM® will correct you in a New York second. (That's about a microsecond).
(bseg). Don't sweat the small shit and remember above all else; it's all
small
shit.

Thanks for the info.
They seemed to have complied with this, as the roof terrace is very large
and I assume they had the water supply.
"Only use a charcoal barbecue grill on a balcony or terrace if there is a
ten foot clearance from the building and there is an immediate source of
water (garden hose or four (4) gallon pail of water). Otherwise, such
barbequeings is dangerous and illegal."

But they did not comply with this. I remember them using both a gas and
charcoal grille.

Never use a propane barbecue grill on a balcony, terrace or roof. It is both
dangerous and illegal.

Propane barbecue grills and no more than two (2) 20-pound propane tanks are
allowed on the grounds of a one or two-family home, but be sure to follow
the fire safety precautions below.

I wonder what their lawyers would think?

Probably what I thought. Why is using a propane grill on a balcony,
terrace, or roof "dangerous and illegal" as compared to using a charcoal
grill?

My guess is the fear of the tank exploding???

BTW, TV shows usually get a $pecial permit and often have a Firefighter on
the scene.
