Can anyone help my Dad, is in his low 80's but full of vim & vinegar, I want
him to join this group, as he is a wealth of information, some good some
iffy, but he is my Dad & I love him dearly, so as a computer idiot I can't
help him like I know some of you may be able to.

You need to be a little more specific. Does he have his own computer with
internet access?

If you look like your passport picture, you probably need the trip.

You can get him signed up for teranews (One time $3.95, I think) at
http://www.teranews.com/

Then just set his software up to use that as the news server. If you
post what software he uses (netscape, mozilla, I.E shudder, etc)
myself or someone else I'm sure will post instructions on what to do
to the software to be able to access the teranews site. (there are
others, but that one is pretty cheap, cost wise)

I wasn't trying to be a wise-a**, but just didn't understand the
problem if you already knew how to get here. Still not sure that I do...

Hire a kid from the local area to help him. Try a local college.

Alternatively, contact a local computer repair shop and hire them
to teach him.

After reading all the other responses, I'm guessing that "Dad" doesn't know how to
set up access with *his* ISP. They should have a technical assistance phone
number that can give him specific information for that particular ISP.

He'll need what the name of their news server is, as well as how to log in.

What ISP does he use, then I can possibly direct you and "Dad" in the right
direction.

well as soon as Dad sends me his isp we ought to get him on board, if he

Ol' Hippie,

What browser is he using? What ISP is he using? With those questions
answered, it will be much easier to help your dad get on the right track.
Would be happy to help.

Happy Q'en,
BBQ
