I'm finally starting to design/build my brick BBQ pit. I want it to be
MULTI function. Offset box for smoking, adjustable grate for grilling. I also want the ability to use gas instead of wood. I'm wondering if someone has seen a gas burner that I could connect/dis-connect easily to convert to/from gas. Probably LP gas for now. Eventually I'll get natural gas over there. I'd need to cap off the pipe/connection when I use wood. |

I have come up with something similar. I have an old Brinkmann Bullet that
I built a rack to hold. It holds the smoker directly above a gas turkey fryer stand. As such, the stand holds the charcoal pan in place while I am smoking. If the outside air temperature drops too low, the gas fryer stand can kick in and help maintain a constant temp until the food is done. Have used the gas several times to complete the process. It works great. It is just cobbled together from some old 2x4's. But seems to really do the trick. I was thinking that maybe you could do something similar to use a turkey stand to add heat to your pit... Just an idea. Scott "D" wrote in message ...
