Default Boost gas grill output?

HEAVENS NO! NOT for Q!!! I bought an ECGG -- el cheapo gass grill --
to convert to a coffee roaster. Though it is doing and adequite job
with the batches I am roasting currently I would perhaps like to boost
output some time in the future. The grill currently is a single burner
24K BTU model. Could output be boosted to the 30K BTU level by
replacing the regulator?

Consult an expert - The BTU'S are more a function of the Jetting than the
regulator.

No, you need a larger burner and possibly valve assembly.

Walt,

You can replace the fixed pressure regulator w/ an adjustable one. I
have them on all my burners and log starters. They are available at
Lowe's or Home Depot at my location for ~15$ IIRC and work well.
(Please note that I do not own a gas grill.)

Be VERYcareful to avoid sending too much fuel. Very bad things could
happen.

Hope This Helps,

Tom

Walt why do u need more btu's-have a really big SS CB grill I
converted to a coffee roaster-big home made drum-12# capacity and once
I get the thing up to roasting temp and the the drum adequately
preheated, turn down 2 of the 3 burners to the lowest setting and
leave the middle one at about 1/3 open-will keep my temp gauge above
the drum at 470F which will get me to second crack in about 15-17
minutes-assuming I have preheated the drum enough-mine weighs just
under 20# empty.

Some of the big box stores and "Farm and FLeet" stores have skads of
replacement burners-just have to check and see if the things will fit.
Still don't think u need them-mine has 3 ea 15K burners and they have
plenty of heat output.

Happy roasting-love both critters and beans.

What I got was a single burner ell cheepo from walmart. Git it for
$70!! So far it does OK for 2# but to play with roast profiles a BIT
more heat MIGHT help.
