Barbecue (alt.food.barbecue) Discuss barbecue and grilling--southern style "low and slow" smoking of ribs, shoulders and briskets, as well as direct heat grilling of everything from burgers to salmon to vegetables.

Default renting a hall to sell BBQ

I drive by a bunch of halls - Knights of Columbus, Elks, VFW, etc. that can be rented for your
own functions.

Most have a food service inspected kitchen and a built in bar.

I am wondering if I could rent a place, get a DJ or band for atmosphere, use their inspected
kitchen and sell my Q.

comments thoughts or suggestions?

Many of these places rent space for functions such as weddings, fund raisers
for charity etc. They may prohibit commercial ventures so check that first.
Or they may want more than just the rental cost, like a percentage of the
sales.

If that is allowed, next check the local licensing and health department.
Local codes vary so much that it would not be possible to give a very
accurate answer. Another factor is making the Q. If it is in a pit
outside, our thoughtful government agents may require some additional
safeguard for our well being. Maybe they don't want you cooking with that
dirty old wood.
