When I read Dave's message, I wasn't sure what to do. So I used Yahoo! People Search and found his phone number. No answer. So I called the East Wenatchee police and after talking to a detective, forwarded a copy of Dave's post to try to bring about an intervention. I'm pleased to report that I just heard back from the detective. Dave is "in the hospital getting the help he needs". While the detective couldn't give me details due to Dave's privacy rights, I gather from the conversation that they arrived before he had done anything drastic and that his hospital visit is for evaluation rather than trauma/emergency My hat is off to you, Thomas. You did a *very* good thing. I've never met Dave, but from what I know of him from this group, he's one of the good guys. And posts from those who have met him confirm this. I'm pleased to hear that Dave's getting help. My thoughts will definitely be with him and his family. Collective sigh of relief Hug your families, count your blessings, -- TFM3 Yes indeed. Jim |

One of the problems with these situations is authenticating the sender. It's a good demonstration of why some of the common net "pranks" can go beyond annoying and become dangerous. Fortunately he included enough personal information that people who knew him recognized it as authentic. snipped all (sorry)
I've never been a real contributor to this group 'cause I'm just really learning about barbecue and don't really have the proper equipment, but I've read Daves posts in the past and he seems like a guy that I'd be happy to know. Jill: I'm so glad that he's ok and hopefully he'll be back to you soon. I really hope that you and your family are handling it too. If not, please seek some help. {preaching off} Life's pressures aren't easy when going through them, and even harder after they are "over". Good luck, and if you're ever in, or close to NY, stop on by on your way to "where-ever"! -- Steve |
