Is it ok to post some links to bbq on here now that a.b.f is gone for most
ppl? I'm just talking links and not actually putting binaries on here.
Like some tasty ribs www.dustingodwinphoto.com/ribs.jpg
www.dustingodwinphoto.com/ribs3.jpg they broke in half on me, sigh. Dry
rubbed, mopped with a mixture of coffee, apple cider vinegar and canola oil,
finished with a home made tomato based sauce.
Cheers.

Post away, Mr. Callaghan. This whole whining thing about pictures is
way out of proportion considering that if you query Google about "free
picture hosting" you can get 18.5 million hits in less than a
third of second.

I know they aren't all valid sites, but I just did it, and there were
pages of valid free hosts well past a hundred site listings. Surely
in a few hundred FREE sites, those with heartburn can find a solution.

It's unfortunate that it all came down the way it did, but it's time
to move on. I think the site solution is better anyway since everyone
can see your proud work, not just those with binary group capability.

BTW, nice looking ribs!

Links have always been fine. What is problematic is the posting of graphics
into a text-based ng.

Shut up Robert, things were supposed to become easier rather than more
complex - our freely elected gov't officials said so - it must be true

How is it anyone's fault if their ISP decided to screw them and censor
Usenet by dropping all of their binary newsgroups? Clearly they have to go
somewhere else, and/or use a different service at higher expense. I can't
get it any more using the same Usenet feed that is allowing me to read and
post here, and its not my fault. The blame belongs with the phony excuses
given by big ISPs that are really just intended to cut their budget while
cutting promised services from their customers.

There are food binary newsgroups still working for me, per previous posts.
That seems to be the case for many people, except the ones who had the
entire alt. heirarchy whacked. In those cases they need to find a better
service.

How many posts does Free.binaries.food attract on a daily basis
Marty? Is nobody picking up on this attack on free speech? All
of the major ISP's have collaborated to eliminate the universal
unmoderated groups.

Never been anything wrong with posting links. Unless they're to
malware or spam sites--and I don't think a spammer would go to the
trouble of being as on-topic as your post is.

It's $2.95 a month for a Usenetmonster account. If you have high speed
internet access already, $2.95 a month isn't going to bust your budget.

For that $2.95 you get 5 gigs a month with any unused gigs being rolled over
at the next billing cycle.

You can have 10 concurrent connections. Theoretically, you could split the
account bill between 10 people for a cost of less than 30 cents a month
each.

We've been using it with 3 full time users of ABF and have yet to use a half
a gig. When I was billed for my second month, we had 9.76 gigs remaining.
I only expect that number to climb in the coming months.

Conservatively speaking, we should have 36 gigs available at the end of one
year.

Not affiliated with them, just duly impressed,

Brick... buddy... you missed a few posts. All the political/
economical ramifications have been duly beat to death here.

Not nearly as much so as they have been on other newsgroups (like
woodworking for example) where this discussion has drawn a couple of
hundred responses on different threads.

I don't actually know anyone that thinks this was an attack on free
speech, nor anyone that thinks the folks that put the policy to remove
access to most binary groups gave a crap about the reasons they used
to do it.

It wasn't censorship, nor was it about protecting the kids. It was
about the major ISPs freeing up bandwidth. It was never about
anything else.

What ****ed folks off was the way that the major ISPs just arbitrarily
reduced the amount of product they were selling. NG access was
included for many in their monthly services, but now they have to go
get PAID services (there's that bandwidth issue again) for something
they never paid for before.

What ****ed me off was the fact they tried to package their corporate
money saving tactics as "protecting the children from porn". That
seemed to be a real bone for most folks, too.

Robert
