This has been well received here, used in a vinaigrette for a wilted

salad.

Glazed bacon
[ . . . ]

Thanks, Nick. I'm gonna make that!

Here's the whole recipe for Wilted salad, Wayne:

Glazed bacon

6 slices bacon, preferably thick & smoky
1-1/2 tbs honey or maple syrup
1-1/2 tbs prepared mustard
1/2 tsp cider vinegar

Bacon vinaigrette dressing

1/2 cup rendered bacon fat plus EVOO
3 garlic clove, minced
3 tbs cider vinegar
1 tbs honey or maple syrup
salt & fresh-ground black pepper to taste

10 to 12 cups torn leaf lettuce (2 to 3 Romaines)

Preheat oven to 325° F.
Arrange the bacon in a single layer on a baking sheet with sides. Bake for
10 minutes. Pour off and reserve all rendered fat.

In a small bowl, mix the honey or maple syrup, mustard and vinegar. Spread
1/2 the mixture over the bacon and bake for 7 to 8 minutes. Turn the bacon
over and spread it with the remaining syrup mixture. Bake another 6 to 7
minutes or until medium brown and crispy. Watch carefully for the last few
minutes to avoid burning. Cool briefly, then chop or crumble.

Warm the bacon fat and oil mixture over medium heat in a small skillet. Add
the garlic and sauté it briefly. Add the remaining dressing ingredients and
heat, stirring, 'til the honey dissolves.

Place the greens in a salad bowl and pour the warm dressing over them. Toss
lightly. Sprinkle the bacon over the salad and serve hot or at room
temperature.

Thanks, Nick. I'm looking forward to making this. My mom used to make
something similar with baby mustard greens.

Yes. Almost any light greens, even if tangy, should work. ENJOY!

Have ya grilled anything yet? Time's a'wastin'!

Only some beef ribs and some pig candy today.

Yum. I like ta smoke my ribs.

They were good. And meaty, too.

I can't collect like that anymore, as I've almost outlived my money! Call
back next year. "Hello. Is this Nick's widow?" ROTFLMAOPIMP

One problem with this collection is that some of them sit longer than they
should, and I've finally found that mold-on-the-grill that people post
about. It does burn off easily, though.

Okay, I'm ignorant. "pig candy"? Wozzat?

PS--thanks for the Amazon pointer.

g Yep, thanks indeed! I told Nick earlier (in another group) that I
arrived home today to find 1 box of Lodge hibachi, one large bag of
lump charcoal, 1 chimney starter, 1 very large set of tongs, a bundle
of newspaper, and probably one or two things I forgot to list--and a
Denny very pleased to be gifting me. :-)

We're gonna grill this weekend! :-) And we're also gonna get more
propane so I can use the Weber again---it hit empty while I was
warming it up for my last planned grilling, and I was very
disappointed. Had to wait for Denny to show so I had someone to carry
the full tank!

Small enough so he can carry it easily, large enough that he feels
studly doing so.

Ooooh. I'll take that smooch! And send a hug back, if you'd like one.

Update: just tried the hibachi. Two nice thick New York steaks. They
were *wonderful*!!!!! (well, mine was--and Denny seemed pretty darned
pleased with his! Not branded as I didn't put one over the Lodge logo)

I liked the char, I loved the flavor, and lump is now gonna be in my
repertoire. (HUGE smile)

Which is good, because the char shouldn't be very thick at all! ;-)

Now, use your feminine wiles to have Denny getcha a small charcoal/wood
grill! He'll be glad ya did. I bought Jun a Lodge L410 Sportsman's Grill
from Amazon, last year. Looks like Target currently has the best price
and
free shipping.

I couldn't find the Target price, but $49.99 including free shipping from
Amazon sounds pretty good to me.

If I only had (time and) room for another grill.

Still don't have time, or room. :-(

WOW! I decided that I needed to help stimulate the economy '-)

I also decided that since I have been admiring this grill for several years,
since I first saw one, I'd buy one of these. It's now $69.99, not the
$49.99 it was just over a month ago. Oh well, I can stimulate the economy
just a little more. It'll be here Friday. Count is now @ 13 (I think) and
growing. '-)
