My kid brother was a loyal JD fan for years. I finally convinced him to
try
a _real_ Bourbon. He's been on Wild Turkey ever since! Just sayin'. ;-)

Anyone who tries George Dickel or Woodford Reserve will not be
disappointed.

Yep. There are a lot of fine Bourbons out there. I cut my Bourbon teeth on
Old Forester, in 1953. Good enough for me, although I keep a few others
around for special occasions.

Had them both, along with Elijah Craig, Maker's Mark, Wild Turkey Rare Breed
and a few others. Never cared for JD that much.. I only drink a few
bottles a year so the difference between the cheap stuff and the good stuff
is not all that much so I pass on the cheap stuff.

I don't have newspaper available anymore, so I use other means. The
crap they use for direct mail advertising doesn't burn very well.

Old phone books do work well, don't they!

I actually cheat - my chargriller duo has a side burner. 5 minutes on
that and it's flaming to go!
Dump that into the side firebox, another load on top of that, and in
30 minutes I have enough smoke
to set off an alarm.

I used to do the oiled paper towel from preping the grill, but I too
now have the side burner on the CharGriller and it works perfectly.

I just tear off some of the bag the charcoal came out of and shove
that under the bottom of my chimney starter and use that to start it
all up. Works great. By the time I've used up a bag of charcoal
there's basically no bag left. You can see the bag on the right of
this picture and how some of it is mysteriously missing. :-)
