Default Warning, Silver B Cover

If you are wanting a cover to keep you Silver B (probably other models also)
dry, don't waste your money on the one that weber sells. My new silver b
gets soaked every time it rains, inside and out. I don't have a clue as to
why they put that stupid vent in the front of the cover. It would have been
a nice cover if they hadn't added that "extra touch".

I'm going to see what the local auto upholster will charge me to sew a
backing on the back side of the vent. Paid too much for it to trash it.

Ticked in Tulsa, RM~

PS, Guess I got that off my chest.

Mine's sat out in rain and snow for eight years uncovered.
no worse for the wear. Never noticed it being wet on the
inside but then again I never really paid much attention to
it. Still looks and works like new.

We had a very "light" but steady rain here for the last two days. I went out
and took the cover off awhile ago to do some steaks. It took 15 20 minutes
of sputtering to dry the burners out, the storage area was totally flooded
and the cast iron smoke box I had stored in the bottom had rusted and made a
mess of everything I had in the bottom. I never had that kind of a problem
with my 10 + year old charbroil which also was kept covered and is still in
great condition. RM~

I'm confused. How can the storage area be totally flooded
when there's a grease hole dead center of the bottom of the
unit....

Okay then, how about "everything down there was drenched".

Interesting, I've never had that problem even without a
cover for some reason. I've gone out and fired it up in the
rain with no problems. YYOV (Your Mileage Obviously Varies) ;-)

The only thing I can figure is the screen covered vent which runs the full
width of the cooker just about even with the bottom of the lid at the front.
It has to be funneling water right into the grill. Actually the insides
would be more water proof with out the cover.
I just sent Weber an e-mail letting them know what I think of their $59
vented cover. It really is a nice heavy cover if they just hadn't put that
stupid vent in it, the vent defeats the whole purpose.

PS, Guess I need a cover to cover the cover. They probably want another $59
for a cover cover.

That's it, think I'll send Weber another e-mail and tell them they owe me
for
a roll of duct tape to fix their $%^*$ cover.
