Go to Google, choose 'Groups' then find 'rec.food.equipment' and do a search
on 'scales'. Lots of discussion. My recommendation was the MyWeigh
3001/6001, depending on whether you want up to 3 Kg (3001) or 6 Kg (6001).

I recently purchased a Salter "aquatronic kitchen scale" from Williams
Sonoma for about $70. It's the 5kg / 11lbs version with a tare button and
the kg/lbs switch on the front panel.

NOTE: there are older (or different) models still on dealers' shelves
that have the kg/lbs switch inconveniently located underneath the unit.
