So how long does this stuff last? I've had a plastic bottle of
Tiparos in my cupboard for years now.. I know its not a great brand, but it was available at the time. Any thoughts on shelf life? -- Dan |

In plastic? Throw it away. Fish sauce in plastic is bad. Your next bottle should be glass (and a better brand). Three Crabs or Phu Quoc (the island and a brand name). -sw |

I don't keep it for much longer than a year in the fridge. Perhaps it would still be OK but I think it looks darker in color. My favorite brand is Golden Boy, not the cheapest but not a financial disaster to replace. -- James Silverton Potomac, Maryland E-mail, with obvious alterations: not.jim.silverton.at.verizon.not |

Thanks Steve. I will get the thrree crabs brand. It has darked in color, and stronger in taste, which is why I asked. -- Dan |

Fish sauce in bottles will last 5+ years in the fridge, 2 years in the cupboard. Fish sauce in plastic, anything goes. -sw |

Ours never lasts very long, because it gets used up! It's 'stored' on the sauce table (presently 23 kinds) next to the stove. Current brand is "Lucky". I don't know if that's the usual brand here? -- Nick. Support severely wounded and disabled Veterans and their families! I've known US vets who served as far back as the Spanish American War. I have used Golden Boy brand from Thailand for over 5 years, it has the best flavor and will keep for years(IF it does!)in the fridge. I do a lot of Thai cooking, and this is the ONLY brand I would use. Viet brands are lousy, IMHO and I would not give them shelf room. I also use the best oyster sauce, also from Thailand.
