So how long does this stuff last? I've had a plastic bottle of
Tiparos in my cupboard for years now.. I know its not a great brand,
but it was available at the time. Any thoughts on shelf life?

In plastic? Throw it away.

Fish sauce in plastic is bad. Your next bottle should be glass (and
a better brand). Three Crabs or Phu Quoc (the island and a brand
name).

I don't keep it for much longer than a year in the fridge.
Perhaps it would still be OK but I think it looks darker in
color. My favorite brand is Golden Boy, not the cheapest but not
a financial disaster to replace.

Thanks Steve. I will get the thrree crabs brand. It has darked in color,
and stronger in taste, which is why I asked.

Fish sauce in bottles will last 5+ years in the fridge, 2 years in
the cupboard. Fish sauce in plastic, anything goes.

Ours never lasts very long, because it gets used up! It's 'stored' on the
sauce table (presently 23 kinds) next to the stove. Current brand is
"Lucky". I don't know if that's the usual brand here?

Thanks, Matthew. I'm not about to suggest brands of Thai products to my
Thai wife. ;-D

Late getting into this one! I have used Golden Boy brand from Thailand
for over 5 years, it has the best flavor and will keep for years(IF it
does!)in the fridge. I do a lot of Thai cooking, and this is the ONLY
brand I would use. Viet brands are lousy, IMHO and I would not give them
shelf room. I also use the best oyster sauce, also from Thailand.
