d Good to hear from you, pal. It's my secret ingredient, but

d in their potato salad but they've stopped using MSG and now
d it's just plain old bland PS. Mostly, I use it pretty
d liberally so one can go through a pound of the stuff

I'll give out my dread secret :-) I'm on a low or no-fat diet
and non-fat cream cheese is vastly improved by a sprinkling of
msg.

wail with it, bro. don't be surprised if someone tells you cream
cheese isn't traditional, either.

bm me (silver spring, md.) lotsa stuff, hey? any idea if
bm it's near a metro stop?

Kam Sam (I know I got the name slightly wrong) is about a ten
minute walk from the Rockville Metro Station on the Red LIne.
Walk up to Middle Lane, then right to 300 N Washington St.
Rockville, MD 20850

You can get a map on Google.

There is another quite decent Chinese supermarket near the
Rockville station, north on Hungerford Drive (the road running
past the station). It's called Maxim's and is near the fire
house and actually about 200 yards from Kam Sam.There's a bit of
a little China town in that area.

i have been shopping at asian foods on viers mill rd. in wheaton,
which is a little closer. it's not too bad, really, but you know the
appeal of a new place.

I have not checked closely but both Maxim's and Kam Sam have
entry ways without steps, AFAICT. The aisles are not the widest
and they can be a bit crowded. Both places have pretty good
parking so driving there would ordinarily be practical. You can
take the Rockville Montgomery Ave exit from 270 and the drive to
either store would not be more than a mile or so.

Pretty wild stuff. Wonder how it'd do in Koolade? It may be that MSG is
right up there with salt as a flavor enhancer. Anyway, the Japanese will
add a small pinch of salt to freshing up a stale cup of coffee and
darned if that don't work well. I'm gonna have to try some MSG in
coffee. Don't tell anybody...
