Default Clearing out the cupboards

Blimey I have a lot of stuff in my cupboards. Cans of various kinds
of beans, bags of various dried beans, packets of grains, a thousand
kinds of noodle. I'm going to try and reduce the stocks, and then
build them up again with only the things that I use a lot of. I mean,
I don't need to have five cans of borlotti beans. I need to have five
cans of chickpeas, because I like them better and will actually use them.

Simmering away on the stove right now is a spicy stew with two of
those cans of borlotti beans in. One of them was nearly out of date.

Here are some guidelines for making bean stews:

I also have a lot of barley to use up. I'll have to see if the
current rice cooker can cope with it.

Anyone else hoard stuff they hardly ever use, and run out of the
things they do use, or is it just me?
