I am interested in finding two-quart narrow mouth mason jars,
preferably Ball. They used to be available but my understanding is
that the Ball two-quart jars are now made only in the wide-mouth
version. I would be interested in getting perhaps a hundred of
them.

Do they have to be tempered -- suitable for canning?
You might check the people at Freund Container -- call their
customer service folks at 800-363-9822 (www.freundcontainer.com,
too).

Well, they probably do have to be tempered. I had not thought about
that. They have to be reasonably heavy-duty, too. We will wash them in
a lab glassware washer, which uses quite hot water and it is probable
that they will bump up against each other now and then in the washer.

Thanks for the pointer.
