TN:1996 Armand Rousseau Mazy-Chambertain GC
We roasted a nice plump farm raised chicken tonight with herbs,
garlic, mushrooms and fingerling potatoes. I poked around the cellar
and found a bottle of 1996 Armand Rousseau Mazy-Chambertain Grand Cru
in the orphan bin and decided it was time to finish the last bottle.
The color was a crystal clear garnet with a slight brickish hue.
Typical mature burgundy nose of red earth, minerals and tart cherries
with a bit of cinnamon spice and sous bois notes. The wine was sleek
on the palate, nothing ponderous about this wine. Pronouced spicy
black cherry on the palate with a mushroom and stony mineral finish.
Very elegant and smooth with good upfront fruit and nice acidity. a
nice easy "A" on the Dale scale.
