think the point was that you _don't_ hold it. You attach it to the
saucepan
and it stirs for you while you're off doing other things. So I imagine it
could be of use to someone who is physically unable to stir something
constantly for any period of time more than a minute or so.

Except any dish that requires constant stirring means along the edges, not
the center...
