Okay, I tried making ham salad and deviled ham the last time I had a
ham.. It was less than stellar... I need to know how to really make
good versions...
ham in mac & cheese, ham on eggs benedict,
ham and bean soup, ham croquettes, ham loaf, ham kebobs, etc. Before you
know it, it will all be gone. :-)
Ham loaf?
Christine
Nearly 40 years ago I was served this by a lady who went to the church
where I sang in the choir. I don't have the recipe handy, but I can find
it if you're interested.
Essentially, it's a mixture of 2 parts ground ham to 1 part ground pork,
cracker crumbs, eggs, evaporated milk, and seasonings. This is formed into
a loaf. The loaf is basted and glazed with a mixture of brown sugar, dry
mustard, spices, and cider vinegar.
She served the ham loaf with a carrot, pineapple, and raisin salad, green
beans with browned butter and almonds, and pan-fried sweet potatoes. It
was a delicious homey meal that I occasionally duplicate.
