Curious but...to me, fine dining means paying your server at the
table? How did you get to a "kitchen counter" in a fine dining
establishment?


The restuarant had an open kitchen. The reception wasn't at the door, but
outside the kitchen, so when I got up to pay, I was directly opposite the
kitchen where the food gets placed before being served. I had to get up and
look for where to pay, as my wife and I were completely ignored while the
waistaff feverishly set about resetting the resauranht.
