Default Belgian Beer in Calais

If you have the time, your best bet is to drive over to Belgium. The
nearest place is just across the border with France, off the E42/A25.
Noel Cuvelier, Abelestationsplein 30. 8970. Poperinge. Belgium. Tel:
0032 5733 3305. Not sure of the opening times, but they are closed
every lunchtime from around 1.00 pm until 2.00 pm, best to give them a
call.

From Calais, take the A18/E40 towards Dunkirk, then at junction 28 take

the A25 to exit 13 and head towards Poperinge, Noel's is on the left
hand side, soon after you cross the border into Belgium. It is a group
of farm buildings set back 100 metres from the road. Take it slow, the
track leading to the buildings is before the sign for the place, and is
easily overshot when approaching from France. They carry about 250-300
beers, so you should be able to find something.

From the ferry to Noel's is about 50miles and will take about 45-50

minutes, well worth the trip.

I'm going on a booze-run to Calais. As well as stupendous amounts of
wine I was hoping to pick up a nice little selection of Belgian beers.

The problem is that the supermarket selections tend to be pretty
limited. Does anyone know of a specialist shop nearby?
