I've read a ton of posts where they talk about these great places that

Now, am I the only person who thinks beer ruins the taste of food?
This and "beer & pizza" are such foreign concepts to me. Beer
completely overwhelms any food tast, you might as well not even be
eating (unless it's Ziti - THAT goes great with beer).

But for a big juicey pounder with loads of cheese and onions, a
heaping glass of Coke is the only thing I like with it. Beer's great
if you want to get hammered, but with food? I never got on that
bandwagon. . .

I think your pallette may be a bit too refined/sensitive; to me, (cheap)
beer *is* like drinking water (the coldness helps numb the taste buds).
However, I do enjoy beer with food, and think of it as like a condiment
- it adds another dimension to the food, including, of course, the
pleasant effects of alcohol.
