I have used the exploded side of a box grater (my ginger graters have been
missing for a long time), but have never done the plastic wrap thing.
Doesn't some of the plastic wrap end up in the ginger?

It seems as if if would, doesn't it? However, the plastic seems to
sort of stretch and get punctured without actually coming to bits.
This isn't something *I* invented -- I think I saw Jacques Pepin do
it. That is, it's not a totally insane idea. :-)
