I believe the euphemism in the brewing industry for those who drink malt
liquors is "ethnic market".
I always found it amusing that young blacks who drank malt liquor
(admittedly, mostly for the high) were ridiculed for paying a slightly
higher price for beer with a higher alcohol content while the white,
middle class was paying a higher price for beer that had LESS alcohol,
LESS taste and used LESS expensive ingredients and/or had MORE water
(i.e., "light" beer).
JK (yeah, I used to buy the occassional case of Heffenreffer Private
Stock Malt Liquor back in the days of the Falstaff Cranston RI brewery.
I could see a "relationship" between it and Ballantine XXX Ale, Croft
Ale and Pickwick Ale...).
