I agree. I grew up with her cooking shows in the later 60's. At least
I think it was then.
Then, when I seriously started cooking, after nursing school, she and
James Beard were some of my armchair mentors. I moved to Washington
DC in the mid 70's and finally got her Julia Child and Company series.
In those books, she used a food processor, and I went out and got the
very same food processor she was using.
I think it was her books that made me finally go out and get a
Kitchenaid mixer... And I cooked regularly from her books.

Unfortunately, I packed most of her books away when I started
traveling. I did copy a few of my favorite recipes of hers, and I
think I am going to pull them out this weekend and make dinner with
them.

There is a tribute to Julia Child on eGullet now, and various members
are talking about cooking dinner this weekend from her recipes. I
think I shall do the same.

Anyone else want to join in and cook dinner in honor of Julia this
weekend?
