Hi guys,
I got so much good advice here last time I had a problem I thought I'd try here first..G
Probably a simple answer but...
You may recall I installed a router about 3 weeks ago...worked great for a couple days
and then quit...started losing the connection to my isp and then finally quit altogether.
Took it back and got an exchange, new one works fine for the most part with one annoying
problem. When I go into a binary group and download a couple pictures it locks up.
I have to reset it and its fine again until I go to download binary files.
I spent hours on the phone with customer support and have decided if its not written in
their standard problem book they don't have a clue.
I've managed to get around the problem by setting the MTU to a value of 1492 but for some
reason I think this has slowed things down a bit, not a big deal on cable but one likes
to enjoy the speed of cable to the fullest...
Anything else you can think of to check?
I'm not sure what MTU my isp uses but it doesn't seem to lockup while surfing, just when
I enter the binary groups.....maybe its a G rated router...LOL
Anyway to check my isp setting without talking to more tech support....ARGGGHHHHHHHHHH
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.
Any other info you need just ask.

If it matters I use Gravity as a newsreader.
An interesting question, and not a situation I've run into before.
I'll ask a friend who has much more experience with routers that I do;
maybe he can come up with something.
Your systems specs sound right; the first thing I thought of was not
enough RAM, but 256 megs should be more than enough.
Have you tried downloading any large files besides just pics? Anything
like any larger program demos? If so, do you have the same problem, or
is this only happening with pics off newsgroups?
Need a place to test if it's just newsgroups? Try he
http://www.pippina.com/photo.html and try the F-117 file. It's a 750
KB .wmv file, and should tell you if it's a problem with your
newsgroup server or the router.
