Thanks for the report. Sounds like you had a great time down there. I'm
scheduled to be at the Reading Terminal Market tomorrow afternoon with
the
Men's Club of my Temple from KoP. We're meeting at Herchel's Deli, but I
intend to so some shopping while we're there.

Jon

Jon,

Have you been? Wear good walking shoes is my only recommendation.
There's not a bad offering in the place. Deciding where and what to
eat can be a problem but I see you've made up your mind already. Good
thinking!!!

Have you tried this interactive map?

Have fun (how can you not?)

Best,

Andy

Thanks for the tip Andy. I checked it out and printed the .pdf map to take
with.

We had a great time. I got there an hour early and did some shopping at the
produce and fish stalls (left a cooler in the car with ice for my stuff). I
picked up some Red Snapper and Halibut and some great looking green mussels
from fish vendors and some Swiss chard, Belgium endive and fresh peas from
the produce stalls.

Our outgoing Men's Club pres (I'm the pres for the coming year) has a
working relationship with the owner of the deli (Hershel's East Side Deli),
so we already knew we were lunching there. The owner came over to talk with
us for ~45 minutes. He grew up in the Katz's deli family in NYC and brought
a lot of know-how with him.

The food was excellent! They make all their own corned beef, pastrami and
salads on the premises. They have a smoker and 7 ovens behind the counter
for preparing the meats.

I picked up some pastrami to take home for the family and some mac-n-cheese
at Delilah's for my daughter. Delilah's was voted best Mac-n-cheese in the
nation on the Oprah show and whipped Bobby Flay in a Mac-n-cheese throw-down
(per my daughter, I didn't see the show). Delilah gave me a taste and it was
really good stuff!

Regards,
Jon
