hello everyone, my stainless pots and pans are losing their finish in
the dishwasher and i'm not sure what the cause or fix would be.
i cook on a glasstop range, should i try cookware w/ an enamelized
outer coating?
thanks
Yes, and try not putting your pots and pans in the dishwasher. I never
do.
I always do. They look fine. They're just tools; they don't have to
look
brand new.

i agree that tools don't have to look their best, but i still don't
put pans in the dishwasher. i don't think detergent agrees with them.
I don't put pots in the dishwasher, but because about half the time
there's some areas where food just doesn't wash off so I have to
rewash by hand anyway, and pots take up too much space that I can
better use for dishes, at least my pots do, I rarely use smaller than
an 8 quart pot. I don't think hand washing a pot is any big deal,
takes me a couple three minutes, and at the same time I'll wash some
other things that don't go in the dishwasher either like aluminum
utensils, woodenware, and cat bowls... if I didn't wash cat bowls by
hand I'd need to own about 100 of them.
(no measuring cups, either - the glass gets etched and the markings
fade.)
Very true... I never put good glassware in the dishwasher, not my good
flatware either. Dishwashers are for every day dishes, nothing better
quality than ordinary restaurantware
