Mmmmmmm.
Any other fans here?
never heard of them before
You're kidding! They've been commonplace in most places I've lived.
Other favorites are breaded and deep fried zuchinni, cucumber, pepper
strips, whole green beans and others. Several restaurants we used to
frequent back in Ohio offer a mixed platter of all these goodies as an
appetizer, served with various dips. Yummy, and half healthy...the
veggies, not the deep frying.
Red Lobster has, or at least used to have an excellent appetizer (which
would've probably been most of a meal by itself, for some folks) that
was, as I remember it, a plate of lightly breaded and deep fried veggie
mix like you describe (zuchini, pepper strips and something else, I
think) and calamari. Served with a couple-three dipping sauces. Yum!
I think they still have that, and yes, it is very good.
I'd actually go have some of that - probably as lunch with a bunch of
those great biscuits - as it's sounding damnably good right now and it's
about that time. But I don't have a convenient RL. Which is probably
surprising, here in Los Angeles; it's not like I'm in Elko, Nevada trying
to find one.
