With a simple dinner last night of cheese tortellini in a
tomato-basil-garlic sauce, Jean asked for a "gutsy red." Inspection of
the "to drink" rack led me to open a bottle of:
2006 Ch. D'Oupia/André Iché Vin de Pays de l'Herault 'Les Hérétiques'
nose: straightahead cherryish fruit
palate: taut acidity, medium body, red fruit, a hint of olives
Purchased for $6.99 at Whole Paycheck recently, after years of hearing
DaleW tout this wine as a perennial QPR winner. Jean's reaction was
"get a case of this stuff" and I'm not far off that level of enthusiasm
either. Food-friendly, fruity and tasty and a proper farewell to the
recently departed André Iché.
