Yeah but... I like to peruse my mail while at work (at lunch, of
course), however they block the nntp port to hit my free news server,
which is why I fall back on Google Groups. My provider (Wide Open
West) doesn't provide a web interface to the groups.

Have you ever tried http://mail2web.com ? I don't *think* that uses a
nntp port, but I could be mistaken. I never really checked. Worth trying
though.
