I just took a look and all those spams are from some watch domain, not
from a gmail domain. I don't see any spam from gmail in recent posts
(unless you are counting my messages). You don't think that Google
filters out gmail accounts on inbound Usenet, do you? And Dave doesn't
care because he can't read my emails. And I felt I had so much to
contribute...

A lot of spammers use a gmail account to access google groups as an nntp
host and then post spam which contains links to other domains... the watch
and shoe domains, for example, or fruadulent chinese designer domains. These
Google accounts are so free, easy and disposable that the perps often don't
even bother to disguise their headers any more. Less frequently they do it
with a yahoo address. But sometimes they will include a real yahoo address
for replies to the spammer. Those you can report and usually get back an
acknowledgement from Yahoo that action was taken against the account.
Some of the spammer domains, especially the blog trolls and non/chinese/shoe
watch spams, resolve as Godaddy hosted domains. Those can be reported at
.
I understand filtering makes life easier but its also important to report
these whenever possible. However don't ever send reports to abuse at
chinanet or similar chinese domains, because they will just sell your
address to spammers, since the majority of their hosting clients are
internet thieves looking to steal from you or con you into sending money for
merchandise that will never arrive.
