I'm in SoCal. The local BevMo has Lazzari mesquite lump for
about the
same price. It's pretty good, and about the cheapest I can
find around
here.

found the kingsford and Cowboy stuff around here but I
didn't know it was crap. *Looking forward to using it.

BevMo also sells boxes of "firewood" which consists of split almond
logs and some pine kindling. I've bought these in the past, discarded
the pine and cut the almond into chunks and used them in the smoker.
Almond wood smoke works well with just about everything.
