While I was busy cleaning out and rearranging the big freezer DW was
clearing out the broccoli and cauliflower from the garden. The blasted
plants were already starting to bloom.

At any rate we were able to blanch, cool, and bag 12 bags of broccoli and
7 of cauliflower. This time around I not only let the veggies drip dry in
the big colander I also slung them dry in the salad spinner and then
bagged but didn't vacuum seal them. Instead I put them on a large bun pan
and stuck them in the freezer for a couple of hours. What liquid was left
on the veggies froze and made the bags easier to vac seal.
Occasionally I do come up with something that will work.

We're waiting for an expected deluge of rain and bad weather forecast for
tonight and tomorrow. Sure hope it goes on by as we have tickets to hear
Ladysmith Black Mambazo sing at three pm tomorrow. Last week we went to a
concert with Japanese drummers playing huge drums, cymbals, gongs, and
flutes. Very nice stuff and they could sure sling those big drumsticks. So
much for culture.

lucky you George!

Today I shovelled about 6 inches of snow off the back yard rink so that my 8
yo could skate. It was a beautiful day, around -5 C and sunny. However, we
too are in for a couple of days of bad weather - freezing rain or snow
depending on the temperature. I've had just about enuff of winter - haven't
seen this much snow since the early '70s!

Kathi,
nursing aching muscles now, cuz of all that shovelling...;-(

Your idea of a beautiful day and mine don't really jibe. That's why I
don't live north of US Highway 90 (check a map) and why I left New
England in 1960 like a rocket. I understand some people like the cold
and snow but I don't understand them, if you get my drift. VBG
