Putting it by on a Saturday
While I was busy cleaning out and rearranging the big freezer DW was
clearing out the broccoli and cauliflower from the garden. The blasted
plants were already starting to bloom.
At any rate we were able to blanch, cool, and bag 12 bags of broccoli
and 7 of cauliflower. This time around I not only let the veggies drip
dry in the big colander I also slung them dry in the salad spinner and
then bagged but didn't vacuum seal them. Instead I put them on a large
bun pan and stuck them in the freezer for a couple of hours. What liquid
was left on the veggies froze and made the bags easier to vac seal.
Occasionally I do come up with something that will work.
We're waiting for an expected deluge of rain and bad weather forecast
for tonight and tomorrow. Sure hope it goes on by as we have tickets to
hear Ladysmith Black Mambazo sing at three pm tomorrow. Last week we
went to a concert with Japanese drummers playing huge drums, cymbals,
gongs, and flutes. Very nice stuff and they could sure sling those big
drumsticks. So much for culture.
