Default Rice cooker

Any recommendations on a automatic electric rick cooker for one or two
cups?

Which brand or model combines ease of use; long lasting; safe from
burns; results in a good cooked rice?

Cooking good rice is easy and there's no excuse for a cooker that
can't do that. So my advice is just to get something durable. Avoid
electronic neuro fuzzy gizmos. They're what break first, and then all
you can do is buy a new one (a fact that, I'm sure, has not escaped
notice by the manufacturers). I use a National SR-XA05 that I got in
Shinjuku about 10-11 years ago. It can cook 1-3 cups, has a mechanical
timer and switch. I've used it continuously now (almost daily) and
have no complaints except that it doesn't do genmai. For that I just
use a regular pressure cooker. Oh, I guess the nonstick coating is
getting a bit worn. Clean gently.
