Default Wooden Fruit/Wine Press Care

I just purchased a Weston Wooden Fruit & Wine Press (model #
05-0101). I used it this week for the first time and it worked great.
The wooden slats on the cage are sealed, however neither the pressing
block or the block inserts are not; I was thinking about rubbing it
down with a _light_ coat of mineral oil like I do with fine wooden
bowls. I'm concerned about tainting my wine, however my thought is
that if I give the oil 2 weeks to evaporate / soak in (where ever it
goes) and I wipe it down before hand I might be ok.

Thoughts?

I did find one previous thread on the topic:
